MDgroove.com™ Announces Launch of On-Demand Learning Program on “Echocardiographic Assessment of Pulmonary Hypertension and Right Ventricular Function”

Guelph, June 10, 2008: Meducom International Inc.® announced the introduction of a new On-Demand Learning program, entitled “Echocardiographic Assessment of Pulmonary Hypertension and Right Ventricular Function”, at its web portal for Canadian physicians, www.MDgroove.com™.

On-Demand Learning provides Canadian physicians with a powerful and rapid i-learning platform through which credible content, developed by respected Canadian experts, is delivered. The platform integrates audio and visual media, animations and personal reflection and assessment tools. One or more patient case studies support the delivery of evidence-informed and guideline-supported medicine using an online adaptation of the familiar “slide” presentation. Each On-Demand Learning program at MDgroove.com™ is designed to adhere to the principles of adult learning (“andragogy”) and among key considerations is the accomodation of the many learning styles of the physician audience so that all program participants may benefit.

The program has been co-sponsored by the Centre for CME, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University, and features content organized, prepared and presentd by Dr. James Tam of Winnipeg, MB and Dr. George Honos of Montreal, QC.

Physicians licensed to practise medicine in Canada who are members of the MDgroove.com™ community are eligible to participate in this program.  Membership at MDgroove.com for Canadian physicians is free and registration is simple.

On program completion, specialists belonging to the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Canada may claim 1.5 Section 1 credits. Primary care physicians interested in this program may document 1.5 MAINPRO-M2 credits in their CPD diaries upon completion of this program.

What is MDgroove.com™?

MDgroove.com™ is the next-generation web community that extends the types of experiences and activities that Canadian physicians can have on the internet, unleashing the power of the participatory web (“Web 2.0”) and marrying this functionality with a fun and friendly 1970s design motif. The site interface allows users to customize their MDgroove.com™ experience – taking advantage of Web 2.0 architecture where Canadian physicians can:

  • Engage with colleagues to build social and clinical networks with other Canadian physicians (e.g., catch up with classmates, interact with local colleagues, make friends with those with shared interests)
  • Work through (and share!) challenging patient simulations
  • Participate in dynamic, on-demand accredited continuing medical education (CME)
  • Access up-to-the-minute medical news, weather and hot podcasts
  • Use one of the web’s most functional calendar of events, with listings of international, national, regional and local medical and CME events
  • Share opinions – about almost anything! – through polls, a web forum and a blog (all available at a secure site on each member’s personal page at the groovePad)

MDgroove.com™ Launched for Canadian Physician Community

Guelph, January 22, 2008: Meducom International Inc.® today announced the eagerly awaited launch of MDgroove.com™, a new web community exclusively for Canada’s physicians. MDgroove.com™ extends the types of experiences and activities that Canadian physicians can have on the internet, opening up the power of the participatory web and marrying this functionality with a fun and friendly 1970’s design motif.

“To describe MDgroove.com™ as anything less than far out would just be inappropriate,” declared Serge Moraca, President and General Manager of Meducom International Inc.® “We have built a new gold standard for the medical web – something designed with the needs and aspirations of Canadian physicians at the forefront of our efforts.”

MDgroove.comTM is an empowered, energetic, convenient, customizable online community created exclusively for Canadian physicians with free membership.  The website interface allows users to customize their MDgroove.com™ experience – taking advantage of Web 2.0 architecture.

MDgroove.comTM is also ambitious – it is a web portal where Canadian physicians can:

  • Engage with your colleagues to build social and clinical networks with other Canadian physicians (e.g., catch up with classmates, interact with local colleagues, make friends with those with shared interests)
– through polls, a web forum and a blog (all available at a secure site on your personal page at the groovePad)

Why MDgroove.com™?

Surveys of Canadian physicians have indicated that the medical internet is in need of improvement.  While use of the internet amongst clinicians continues to increase, with very high penetration among Canadian specialists, data indicates that doctors have not yet developed loyalty to a preferred ‘all-encompassing’ website that incorporates a full spectrum of current medical news, e-learning opportunities and useful services and features. Results from a series of CME Needs Assessments, including different specialties and the primary care audience, have revealed that approximately 30% of all physicians have yet to try CME on the internet, and another 30% expressed disappointment with current offerings. Market research suggests the need for a multifaceted web community such as MDgroove.com™ to meet the growing needs of modern Canadian physicians.

“We believe that MDgroove.com™ brings together news, learning and social networking in a powerful and unique way that will truly support Canadian physician engagement, collaboration and the creation of community,” said Todd Kasenberg of MDgroove.com™. “MDgroove.com™ was designed with strong ‘bones’ – a flexible architecture and the best use of modern Web 2.0 technology to help physicians have fun while learning and working towards optimal outcomes for their patients.” Noted Kasenberg, “We believe it’s right on!”
